04 December 2024 — VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Pte Ltd - a joint venture between Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and NXP Semiconductors - celebrated the Groundbreaking of its first 12-inch wafer fab in Singapore, set to begin production in 2027.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by customers, suppliers, partners, industry associations, residents, government officials, and executives from VSMC, VIS, and NXP. The event was further distinguished by the participation of Dr. Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry.

With an investment of approximately USD 7.8 billion and the creation of 1,500 high‑tech jobs, the joint venture will construct a state‑of‑the‑art 300mm wafer fabrication facility in Singapore. The fab will be developed in accordance with Singapore’s Green Mark standards and will incorporate advanced green manufacturing measures, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainability.

This milestone marks a significant step in enhancing geographic resilience and supporting sustainable growth within the global semiconductor industry.
